The Beaumont Connection

The Llano Crawfish Open began in 1989 as the brainstorm of a group of Beaumont hunters and local Llanoites. Over the years a friendship began between the two groups and from this friendship the Llano Crawfish Open was born.

The idea was to have a golf tournament and afterwards cook some “Crawfish” and barbeque. The two groups decided that any money that was raised from the event would be used to purchase a motorized wheelchair for a local man who suffered from M.S. After all was said and done, everyone had such a good time that it was decided to do it again the next year.

As with all new events there was a period of trial and error. Over the next few years the event grew larger than anyone could have ever anticipated. The group became more focused in what their long term goal was and in what direction they wanted to go.

This goal was to help charities in Llano County who could not get out and raise money on their own. The Llano Special Opportunity Center, a facility for mentally and physically challenged adults, as well as Meals on Wheels for the home bound elderly in the county were the premier charities that came to mind. Though these charities receive limited state funding, their needs are still great and the remainder must come from community donations. Occasionally other local charities will also be considered for donations from the Llano Crawfish Open.

The Crawfish Open of 2013 was bigger and more successful than ever. The Open was blessed with beautiful weather and loyal supporters came out in full force. Please come out and join the fun this year.
